Defunct Muskegon Lumberjacks Hockey 1984-1992

Muskegon Gas & Oil Company, aka Musgo, was a Michigan-based petroleum company that started up sometime in the mid-1920s. Collectors believe they were planning on a pretty big footprint in the market given the number of NOS artifacts that still exist today, but nonetheless, Musgo was doomed and dropped off the face of the earth just a few years into their plans for world domination.

Defunct Muskegon Lumberjacks Hockey Team

The Muskegon Mohawks were a minor league professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League from 1965 to 1984. Muskegon were Turner Cup champions in 1968. This team was originally named the Muskegon Zephyrs. After the completion of the 1983–84 season, the team was once again renamed to the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

Vintage Traverse City, MI

Oil exploration in Michigan began with a discovery at Saginaw Field in 1925. As the oil there started to dwindle, it looked as if Michigan would soon be dry and no longer of interest to companies. But a new well found in Muskegon Field officially put the state on the map. The Muskegon Oil Company (now known as the Muskegon Development Company) was founded in 1926 by Charles Myler and Stanley Daniloff. Musgo was the official gasoline brand of the company. The company was only around about two years, so Muskgo signs today are very rare and highly sought after.

The first true surf shops on the lakes were the Beach Point Surf Shop of Grand Haven and Lake Shore Surf Shop at nearby Muskegon.

Pere Marquette Railway caboose on display in Muskegon, Michigan. The Pere Marquette Railway was founded in November of 1899 and began operation in January of 1900 with the merger of 3 Michigan railroads. It lasted until 1947 when it merged with C&O which later became a part of CSX.
