Tekahionwake was a stage name of Emily Pauline Johnson, a daughter of a Mohawk chief from Ontario and an English mother. She was a poet and performer, widely popular in Canada, United States, and Great Britain. Tekahionwake is considered one of the pioneers of Canadian literature.

I've added a semi-sheer overlay behind the poem to make it more visible. This lovely poem is by Emily Pauline Johnson, and I felt this photo and poem went together hand in hand.
