However, certain rocks (such as lapis lazuli and opal) and occasionally organic materials that are not minerals (such as amber, jet, and pearl) are also used for jewelry and are therefore often considered to be gemstones as well. Most gemstones are hard, but some soft minerals are used in jewelry because of their luster or other physical properties that have aesthetic value. Rarity is another characteristic that lends value to a gemstone. This square shape gemstone image was generated with computer software.

Chess is a game that is played by millions of people worldwide. This game is believed to be derived from the Indian game chaturanga, sometime before the 7th century. The first generally recognized World Chess Champion, Wilhelm Steinitz, claimed his title in 1886. For me, it is the ultimate game on earth, with the amount of possible legal board positions worked out to be a factor of ten multiplied with itself, hundred and twenty times!
