The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter and written by Bill Lancaster. Based on the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There?, it tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter the eponymous "Thing", a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates, then imitates other organisms. The group is overcome by paranoia and conflict as they learn that they can no longer trust each other and that any one of them could be the Thing.

Thule Station was a Norwegian Antarctic geological research center which first appears in the 1982 film The Thing. The facility was subsequently featured in the 2011 prequel of the same name, where it serves as the primary setting of the film. It also appears in the 2002 video-game. The station is operated by Norway and is typically manned by a crew of ten men (excluding visiting researchers).

Outpost 31

Introducing our exclusive "We're not getting outta here alive" design that pays homage to the iconic character RJ Macready from John Carpenter's classic film, "The Thing." This unique piece combines elements of humor, adventure, and the chilling atmosphere of the Antarctic setting. The centerpiece of the design is a stylized cartoon rendition of RJ Macready, expertly capturing his rugged and charismatic personality. Rendered with vibrant colors, he can be seen leisurely lounging in a deckchair, embracing the extreme conditions of the Antarctic. With a relaxed demeanor and a mischievous glint in his eye, he raises a cocktail glass, complete with a tiny umbrella, as a nod to his resilient spirit even in the face of danger.

This design features the M2A1-7 Flamethrower used by the Outpost 31 crew in John Carpenter's masterpiece, The Thing. "Why don't we just... wait here for a little while... see what happens?"

U.S. Outpost #31 is a U.S. Antarctic research center which first appears in the 1982 film The Thing and is subsequently featured in the 2002 video-game of the same name and two Dark Horse comic-books - The Thing from Another World and The Thing from Another World: Questionable Research. The station is operated by the United States and is manned by a crew of twelve men.

Bleak, dark, and chilling, I wanted to convey the dread that is felt by every poor soul stranded at Outpost 31. The Thing is one of, if not my favorite film so I could not resist basing a design on it's iconic poster.
