On a dark cloudy day in the American Wild West, you find you self climbing a hill in the grass covered plains. As you approach the crest of the hill a trio of majestic animals appears out of nowhere: A huge white buffalo stands atop a pile of rocks staring down at you. In front of him stand two more brown buffalo who appear to be acting as his guards. This was actually a bit of a re-do of an artwork I made nine years prior called "Bison King" (https://daniel-eskridge.pixels.com/featured/bison-king-daniel-eskridge.html). I wanted to see how style and techniques had changed over the years. Also, as the Summer Olympics were going on when I made this, I had the idea to set the composition up for the three bison in a manner similar ...

The American White Pelican is a very large bird with a length over 5 ft and wingspans up to 9.5 ft. Also, you might notice they are kicking up muddy water. That is just how shallow this lake is becoming due to the ongoing drought. Early morning and the American White Pelicans begin to gather along with a few Snowy Egrets. It was a cool autumn morning at the Great Salt Plains State Park and steam was rising off the warmer waters on the spillway. Sand Creek Bay Bird Blind Black and White by Debra Martz I've spent many many hours in this bird blind since discovering it after our move to northern Oklahoma in 2019. There are a few ducks out there this morning. BUT fall migration is spectacular when thousands upon thousands of Sandhill Cranes, Geese and Ducks of many varieties and shore birds arrive to spend some time here before moving on south for the winter. Boros Legion Represent! Plains White Design that looks best on Red T Shirts

After two weeks of below freezing weather, I was surprised to see the American White Pelicans at the Great Salt Plains Lake. I had previously been made aware that there were some resident ones that did not migrate but I really thought they might have headed somewhere else. Most of the lake was still frozen, so they were all in the only area that had thawed.
