Meet the DMDC's most prolific team... Andy Stone & Lance Stater.
General knowledge kings and talkers of bollocks.
They can tell you where to find a cheap used Kerplunk or an ancient Saxon roundhouse.. but not what the largest land-based carnivore is.
Pub? Go on then...

Visit the Peak District and you're spoilt for choice when it comes to rolling moody vistas. Moorland, reservoirs, gritstone of the Dark Peak, huge reservoirs and tumbling waterfalls... there's so much to see when the clouds lift to show the windswept heather. Crowden Valley is one of the places I've visited most. The history of UFO sightings or 'Devil's Bonfires', spirits of lost Roman legionnaires, ancient packhorse trails. It's got it all if you're willing to look for it.
A recently discovered piece of artwork found within the walls of an old Saxon roundhouse church nearby to the town of Danebury in Essex.
It seemingly depicts an ancient form of precious metal gathering and the methods used to acquire them. As we now know these men would have had to give up any of the valuable materials they discovered to the land owner and their associated parties. Leaving the 'Precious Metal Gatherers' to scrape a living from the lesser valuable finds and similarly skilled occupations.

The early bird gets the worm.. or Saxon horde!
The Dirt Sharks (or is it Terra Firma?) know what it means to get up early and get to the field.. but maybe they're lacking in... horsepower?

Under the jurisdiction of Colchester Museum the Antiquisearchers, have sole permission to detect on any of the decent patches of land in the Danebury area (for now)..
Apart from Farmer Bishop's land. But they'll see if they can't make him a more.. attractive proposition.
You never know when it might strike you, maybe you'll be on a brisk walk, through the cemetery, past the creepy house on the hill you've never been to.
When all of a sudden you meet that special someone who steals your heart without so much as a please!
Usually, if something has a nasty piece of work attached to it's body, its evened out by a small stature or slow pace.. But a monkey with a sting just isn't fair.
Imagine the threat of attack that comes from crazy-mad parkour skills coupled with a poisonous stinger on a dexterous fifth appendage!.. Just too deadly.
This Halloween, spare a thought for those who make the ultimate sacrifice. We hollow them out and stick a candle inside to keep the demons at bay.
Nobody does the same for them!
Travel posters should tell the truth, I shouldn't have to rely on Trip Advisor. I want to look at a poster and it to say: "Come to Scotland, we've got this monster". Because they do.
All the while taking me to a bygone time with a vintage vibe.
A true to life seasonal view from one of my hikes in the Peak District, Derbyshire.
The Snake Pass weaves it's way through some of the most beautiful scenery the Peak District has to offer, you can pull over at a National Trust farm house or make your own way up to Bamford Edge to find a spot just like this one.
You can't really go wrong... but bring a jacket.
Russell & Hugh are two of Danebury Metal Detecting Club's finest members.
Fountains of knowledge for anything ranging from 'The curse of the gold' to local World War 2 air wreckage memorabilia. If ever you need them you can find them on a Thursday night down the Two Brewers having a pint and a coke.

If you find a trail of litter and left open gates down by Ten Acre Field, you might want to duck into a hedge and keep your head down!
Listen out for the rumbling sound of those Trubblemaker hogs and wait for them to pass by!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water...
Chain... Saw... Hammer... Head... Shaaaaaaark!!
You have absolutely no chance of escape because this beast is kitted out to take down absolutely anything that enters it's domain!
Don't bottle it up, they really are the stupidest most awful person you've ever had the misfortune to encounter. Take a few deep breaths and bring them the gift that keeps on giving, unbridled rage!

Louise and Varde, DMDC's no nonsense couple. Bringing accidental representation of the "minorities" to the club..
Varde brings excellent local knowledge to the operation and if you can get her to stop talking for a minute you would find Louise to be a force to reckoned with!

Best recent addition to the Danebury Metal Detecting Club finds table, this excellent condition DMDC coin in Anglo Saxon style, dating from as far back as 1997 maybe? An excellent find I think, well done.

When the sun goes down.. who can you rely on to protect that which you've forgotten needs protecting? To keep the Nighthawks at bay?
That's right, your friendly neighbourhood DETECTORISTS.
