A recently discovered piece of artwork found within the walls of an old Saxon roundhouse church nearby to the town of Danebury in Essex. It seemingly depicts an ancient form of precious metal gathering and the methods used to acquire them. As we now know these men would have had to give up any of the valuable materials they discovered to the land owner and their associated parties. Leaving the 'Precious Metal Gatherers' to scrape a living from the lesser valuable finds and similarly skilled occupations.

DMDC Open day at the scout hut today! Come and see what we've found! (3-5pm) There's free drinks, and you can try your hand at detecting! (50p a go). Browse a range of detecting equipment and also our finds! Anything from shrapnel, a world of coins + buttons, not to mention ring pulls through the ages. All ages welcome, please form an orderly queue at the entrance.

Under the jurisdiction of Colchester Museum the Antiquisearchers, have sole permission to detect on any of the decent patches of land in the Danebury area (for now).. Apart from Farmer Bishop's land. But they'll see if they can't make him a more.. attractive proposition.

You never know when it might strike you, maybe you'll be on a brisk walk, through the cemetery, past the creepy house on the hill you've never been to. When all of a sudden you meet that special someone who steals your heart without so much as a please!

Usually, if something has a nasty piece of work attached to it's body, its evened out by a small stature or slow pace.. But a monkey with a sting just isn't fair. Imagine the threat of attack that comes from crazy-mad parkour skills coupled with a poisonous stinger on a dexterous fifth appendage!.. Just too deadly.

This Halloween, spare a thought for those who make the ultimate sacrifice. We hollow them out and stick a candle inside to keep the demons at bay. Nobody does the same for them!

Travel posters should tell the truth, I shouldn't have to rely on Trip Advisor. I want to look at a poster and it to say: "Come to Scotland, we've got this monster". Because they do. All the while taking me to a bygone time with a vintage vibe.

The Snake Pass weaves it's way through some of the most beautiful scenery the Peak District has to offer, you can pull over at a National Trust farm house or make your own way up to Bamford Edge to find a spot just like this one. You can't really go wrong... but bring a jacket.

Louise and Varde, DMDC's no nonsense couple. Bringing accidental representation of the "minorities" to the club.. Varde brings excellent local knowledge to the operation and if you can get her to stop talking for a minute you would find Louise to be a force to reckoned with!

Best recent addition to the Danebury Metal Detecting Club finds table, this excellent condition DMDC coin in Anglo Saxon style, dating from as far back as 1997 maybe? An excellent find I think, well done.
