The corner grocery store was much more personal than a big supermarket. The grocer knew who you were and what you like and there were always penny candies in big glass candy jars for the children to buy.

All that's needed now is the delivery of some delicious candy to go into the big glass candy jars and the new candy store will be ready to open.

General stores were the center of the American town because they carried such a large variety of goods. This big jar of pretzels was a tempting treat for children and adults alike.

This nostalgic candy store with old fashioned soda fountain bring back wonderful memories of going with my family to have a soda and maybe buying some candy to take home.

The elegance of this Victorian parlor with its lovely patterned wallpaper and carpet and many plants is set off by the beautiful rocking chair with a bisque doll hidden in its depth. The sunshine streaming through the windows adds to its charm.

The parlor was used for formal family occasions such as weddings, births and funerals. The parlour typically had the family's best furniture, in this room you can see a lovely hurricane lamp in front of a lace curtain.

A beautiful example of quilting can be seen inside this cradle next to a trundle bed which also has a lovely quilt on it. You can also see a cute little rag doll camaflouged by the quilt.

Baby stays nice and warm because this lovely cradle with its cozy quilt is put near the fireplace and Mommy can sit in her rocking chair while looking after the baby.

The parlor in this lovely Victorian home was a warm, inviting place to relax with its comfortable chairs and fancy pot bellied stove.

This old fashioned pharmacy has a large variety of medicines for its patrons, You can also see a mortar and pestle on one of the shelves which was used to grind powders for use in making medicines.

The mortar and pestle was very important in a pharmacy because the pharmacist used the pestle to grind drugs into powers in the mortar in order to make medicine.

In this design of a vintage sewing machine, the intricate pattern on the sewing machine is enhanced by the pattern of the shadow of the sewing machine and the lace curtain of the nearby window on the wall.
